Hi, I'm Melanie, an Accredited Trauma Therapist & Coach working online and across Newcastle, Durham and the North

I bring both personal and professional wisdom to this work. Having lived through emotional trauma and burnout myself, I understand what it means to feel broken and to rebuild from that place.

I am an experienced and accredited therapist with a deep passion for helping my clients navigate life's challenges and thrive. My practice is rooted in person-centred principles that enable my clients to accept themselves and embrace positive change. Using a range of therapeutic approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, I offer a safe space online where you can explore what shaped you and begin to heal. My clients often say they feel like they have come out of a shell — finally free to be who they are.

FAQs

What will happen in my first session?

Your first session is when we agree how we will work together, setting boundaries and confidentiality, so that you know exactly what you can expect. We will talk about any specific needs you may have, and what you would like to gain from our work. We will start to build a shared understanding of how things are for you now, what the blocks or issues are that are affecting you and what you would like to be different. If you have experienced trauma, we need to be mindful of this, and our early sessions will focus on stabilisation and coping skills to avoid potential for re-traumatisation.

How many sessions will I need?

If your sessions are funded by health insurance, or your employer, this is likely to determine how many sessions are available to you. If you are accessing my services as a private client, you will need to consider how many sessions you are able to commit to in terms of emotional energy, time and cost, and also what you would like to achieve. Some people have specific number of sessions in mind, or goals and we can discuss this at our initial consultation. A minimum of a weekly commitment for around six weeks can be enough for some clients, whereas others will come for more in depth work and this can be long-term. Once you are on track and feeling the benefits of the changes you are making, or have achieved your goals, we can bring our work to an end. Some people enjoy the support of monthly sessions on an ongoing basis to ensure their progress continues.

Do I need to have clear goals?

You may have very clear goals that you want to achieve and we will clarify these in our first session. Alternatively, you may just feel unfulfilled, unhappy or that you are not reaching your potential in life. You may feel frustrated with yourself that the same old issues keep showing up in your life and you want to break out of this pattern. All of this is okay, I will work with you to find out what isn't working at present and explore what life could be for you.

Do you offer any group sessions?

I have exciting plans for group coaching which will be starting in the Autumn. Also, I am passionate about the healing powers of the natural environment, and I will be starting an Ecotherapy Group early in 2026. Please keep an eye on my social media pages for further details.

Weekly sessions will help us to make meaningful change in your life, and if you are ready to move on from your past, I would love to hear from you

Therapy Sessions

Online

Online therapy, including EMDR – £95 per 50‑minute session

These are paid for in advance by bank transfer.

A limited number of concessionary places are available.


Clinical Supervision

Online

I offer clinical supervision to those in the helping professions.

Online sessions are £75 for 60 minutes, £90 for 90 minutes.


Packages available

EMDR Based coaching - 6 sessions for £550

(1 x 1.5 hour assessment, followed by 5 x 1 hour sessions)

Recovery coaching - POA
